Sara Ward

Room 2 Manager/Keyperson/Safeguarding Officer/EYAP/Level 5 Practitioner

Whilst my youngest daughter was attending Whizz Kids, I joined the team. Now 13 years later, I am extremely proud to say, along with Terina Wilkinson, I am the owner/manager. I recently achieved CACHE Early Years Advanced Practitioner, Level 4 qualification. As Yellow Group Keyperson and Manager of Room 2, I thoroughly enjoy my role and plan to continue to ensure, with our Whizz Kids team, that all our children leave us with all the necessary skills to embrace primary school life.

I joined Whizz Kids 14 years ago, .completing my NVQ2/NVQ3 in childcare and development in 2009/2010 and am SENCO and Autism Lead.  I am the manager for Room 1 and a Keyperson. I achieved CACHE Early Years Advanced Practitioner, Level 4 qualification in 2017 and recently completed (Dec 2019) NVQ Level 5 in Children and Young People’s Development. I enjoy my job enormously and especially enjoy researching new ideas.  The children are inspirational and seeing them progress throughout their time here is very rewarding. We have a great team here at Whizz Kids and will endeavour to continue enhancing and improving our pre-school for the benefit of all the children now and in the future.

I have been working in childcare since 2008, after my youngest child started primary school, and I am currently the Keyperson for Blue group in Room 2. I enjoy working at Whizz kids as no two days are ever the same, and it is a privilege to be able to watch the children develop and grow, in both their learning and confidence, and helping them strive to reach their full potential.

I started at Whizz Kids in 2005, since then I have completed my NVQ level 2 and 3 in childcare and development. I am a Keyperson with Red group. I find working with children very rewarding because you can have such a positive influence in developing them at a young age and seeing them flourish.

I joined Whizz Kids Preschool in June 2013 as a play assistant and completed my level 2 at the end of that year. I enjoy working with the children and seeing them develop and find it a very rewarding job. I qualified for my level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development in the spring of 2016 and I am now a keyperson in Room 1.

I first started at Whizz Kids volunteering whilst completing my level 2 certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce.  I was pleased to qualify in the Autumn Term 2019 as an NVQ Level 3 practitioner and hope to continue to develop my knowledge and experience whilst working at Whizz Kids in my keyperson role in Room 1.  My daughter  attended Whizz Kids where she enjoyed the warm and friendly environment and my son will be joining in January 2020.   I believe that all children are precious and deserve to be treated in a kind and caring way.

I joined Whizz Kids in April 2018 as bank staff before returning as a keyperson in September 2019.  I am an NVQ Level 3 qualified child practitioner with 20 years experience in childcare.  I enjoy supporting children in their learning and development in the warm, nurturing environment that Whizz Kids offers.

I have worked at Whizz Kids for over 18 years. The children are great fun to be with and I enjoy supporting them in their learning and development.

Gemma Deer

Assistant Keyperson

I joined the Whizz Kids team after seeing the encouraging impact the staff had on my youngest daughter. The warm friendly environment helped her to settle and gain confidence and I felt that was something I would like to be part of. Having completed my Level 2 in Child Care and Development in 2019, I am now working towards my Level 3 qualification and am excited to see where this will lead me.

Lianne Hoy

Assistant Keyperson

I joined the Whizz Kids team in December 2017 whilst my son was in Room 2. I find it very rewarding to see how the children develop their skills, use their imagination, make lasting friendships and progress throughout their time at Whizz Kids.

Julia Lagna

Assistant Keyperson

I’ve always enjoyed being around babies and children, so after co-running a weekly toddler group for a couple of years I knew I wanted a career within childcare.  In 2019 I worked on bank staff as a Nursery Assistant for a local day nursery, then started an Early Years NVQ Level 2 course in 2020 whilst volunteering at Whizz Kids.  I’m now working in Room 1 at Whizz Kids and proud to be part of this wonderful team.  I find it very rewarding to witness the children learning and to see their confidence grow, whilst also overcoming any challenges they have.  I enjoy seeing children develop relationships with each other and establishing a good rapport with me too.  I like to make sure they feel secure and cared for whilst having fun within the setting.
